Ancient Greece 9/11/18

Today in class we learned about Socrates, and he’s a pretty cool guy. He was a soldier in the Peloponnesian war in ancient Greece, and then he later became a philosopher. We learned about the Socratic method, which is, in short, repeatedly asking someone questions to figure out how they truly feel on a certain topic. Socrates said it helped get people thinking more. And there was a talk about democracy and how the sun was considered a flaming chariot. Greece was kind of important. Democracy was a big deal in Athens, it was created in 508 BCE. The citizens would meet up and discuss a topic, and every person would be able to stand up and share their opinion on it and say what they think should be done. Many countries like America, obviously, and Egypt, Russia, and China, took the idea of democracy and decided to use it in their own government.
